“ To escape from himself the servant must leap walls, get drunk, forget his condition.
He must live alone, without witness. He dares be himself only in solitude.”

Whats Wrong Dear Jane: Installation & Perfomance
Kenya Ar Fair
This work is part of my process in exploring questions I am repeatedly confronted with regarding the
position women have in society.
In the performance element of this
work, I have a relationship with the
large ceramic figure that connects
to both the richness of womanhood
and a deeper root within myself.
I weave braided fabrics through
the ceramic figure, which are
eventually pulled taut and hooked onto adjacent mirrors.
I feel this tension within my own
body and mind, which I transmit back into the work.
The mirrors in this piece allow the audience to see themselves within the installation.
Installation & Perfomance
Commisioned by Kuona Trust
In the second phase of this performance, I take on another persona by wearing a stocking over my head; referencing ideas of an attacker, of being suffocated, creating feelings of domination and fear, ultimately breaking the ceramic figure. 100 small figures replace the large ceramic figure. They are assembled in rows on the platform.
The performance isn’t the most important thing for me. The performance is just a trigger. The performance leaves an imprint.
